Rued over non-fulfilment of their longstanding demands, the PEPSU Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) Workers Union is all set to launch a protest at various places from November 25.

The members alleged that despite submitting a memorandum containing their demands, the PRTC management failed to meet their demands, including regularisation of jobs of employees working on contract basis.

Nirmal Singh Dhaliwal, general secretary of the union said a mega protest rally would be organised at the PRTC head office on December 15, while gate rallies would be held in sub-offices at different districts - Patiala, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Bathinda, Faridkot, Sangrur, Barnala and Kapurthala - from November 15-29.

He said the union had already submitted a list containing 42 demands of the employees with the PRTC management, some main demands are: regularisation of jobs of employees working on contract basis; sanction of pension to employees joined after 1992; pensions to retired employees on time; a government grant of Rs 200 crore to improve their financial condition; besides, stipulating Rs 50 crore as annual grant for the PRTC to stop kilometre scheme buses and to start fresh 400 buses with objective to generate revenue.
