Taking a serious note of the mass copying in Class-10 exams at two schools in Amritsar, the Punjab school education board has cancelled the exam at both the centres.
These centres are Guru Angad Public School and BR Moder n Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar.
The board had sent seven flying squads in which deputy secretary and other officers of the board inspected the centres.
As many as 81 students of Class 10 were caught cheating across the state during the annual board exams on Thursday.
As many as 3.8 lakh students appeared in social studies exam at 3,305 examination centres in the state. Of 81 cases, 17 were reported from Jalandhar, 13 from Fazilka, 10 from Moga, nine from Faridkot, eight from Kapurthala, six each from Ferozepur and Sangrur, five from Tarn Taran, four from Gurdaspur and three from Hoshiarpur.
Board secretary Gurinder Pal Singh Bath told HT, “Mass copying cases have been detected by our teams in Amritsar and the exam has been cancelled at two examination centres. Copying material and chits were recovered by the board teams. The dates for the re-examination would be decided soon.”
