Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) Employees Federation withdrew its support from the joint forum of PSPCL regarding the strike to be held August 28. A state-level meeting of PSEB Employees Federation was held in Punjabi Bhawanon on Tuesday.

PSEB Employees Federation (Surinder Singh Pehalwan group) called off the strike to be observed on August 28. State vice-president Rajinder Singh Virk said, “The government has agreed to fulfill our demands one by one. Now we should give them some time to fulfill their promise instead of going on strike and creating a problem for the department as well as for the public.”

BS Sekhon, state general secretary of the federation explained the reasons for taking support from the joint forum as far observing a strike is concerned. He said the joint forum held various meetings with the Powercom CMD, KD Chaudhary, and other officials regarding their demands from July 23 to August 4.

In these meetings, the department agreed to fulfil 16 demands raised by the forum and asked for some time as the government was busy dealing with by-election in state. “In such conditions, when the government has agreed on our demand then why shouldn't we give them enough time to fulfill the same,” said Sekhon.

Over 350 employees from Khanna, Ferozepur and Faridkot were present at the meeting.
