The employees of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) staged a protest against the police for delaying the arrest of assistant sub-inspector (ASI), who had attacked sub-divisional officer (SDO) on July 15.

The protest led by the PSEB Engineers' Association said if the police would arrest the accused in two days they would cut off the power supply of major areas of the city.

Later, inspector Amarjit Singh, station house officer at the Haibowal police station, pacified the protestors. He claimed that they would arrest the accused in 48 hours.

Bhupinder Khosla, PSPCL employee, said the at least 20 days had been passed but the police had not arrested the cop for thrashing the PSPCL employee. He alleged that the police had been favouring the accused.

On July 15, ASI Harjit Singh had allegedly assaulted and snatched the mobile phone of an SDO Jagdeep Singh who came to Haibowal area with his team for checking illegal power connections.
The senior officials of PSPCL had brought the matter to the notice of police officials following which the Haibowal police registered a case in this regard.
