PTU allows direct admission in MCA 3rd semester

Punjab Technical University (PTU) has decided to allow direct admission into the second year of the masters in computer applications (MCA) course from the current academic session.

The PTU registrar, in a communiqué to affiliated colleges, stated that as allowed by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the university had decided to allow colleges to admit students directly into the third semester of the MCA programme through the lateral entry scheme against vacant seats of the 2012 batch.

Students should have passed the three-year course in bachelors in computer applications or BSc (information technology or computer science) with mathematics as compulsory subject in Class 12 or at the graduation level. He or she should have obtained at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of reserved category candidates) in the qualifying examination.

The registrar said the admissions shall be carried out strictly as per norms laid down by the state government and the university.
