The Punjab Technical University has apologised for its mistake of publishing the answer key in the question paper of an MBA semester-4 exam held under the distance education programme across the country on Friday.
The university had cancelled the exam 'Project evaluation and implementation' just 20 minutes before it was to conclude.Jaspal Singh, controller of examinations, PTU, said the evaluation paper attached with the questions paper was printed by mistake. "We are yet to decide the date for the exam. However, it will be conducted within 15 days," he added.
He said, "Such things do happen as we are handling a lot of work and many exams are in progress at a given time."
Singh added that it was reported in the media that the university informed the students about the cancellation of the paper 20 before minutes it was to end, but the authorities had informed the examination centres about the mistake at around 9.30am.
It was found the answer key of entire Section-A was given on the last page of the question paper. The answers to 20 questions, carrying one mark each, in the Section-A of the paper were printed on the last page under the heading 'KEY'.
About 6,500 students appeared in the examination across the country. Of these, 3,000 belonged to the current session of March 2012 and 3,500 were re-appears.
The paper had three sections and was carrying a total of 75 marks, of which 20 marks questions had answers available while 25 marks are given in the internal assessment.
