Punjab Technical University (PTU) will introduce 10 new courses from the academic session beginning June-July this year.

Vice-chancellor Rajneesh Arora said that the academic council, in its recent meeting, had approved the plan to introduce MBA (Business Laws) to meet industry demand for legally qualified business managers at various levels of decision-making.

“In the first phase, the new course will be started at Punjab Institute of Technology (PIT), Kapurthala, with an initial intake of 30 seats. The two-year programme has been designed to bridge a crucial gap on dealing with various legal aspects handling capacities of the managers,” he said.

Arora said that the minimum eligibility would be graduation in commerce, business administration or law with 50% marks.

“Seats will be filled on the basis of performance of the students in qualifying exam and an interview,” he said, claiming that the PTU was the first university in the country to offer such a course.

Nachattar Singh, the PIT director, said that the four courses of business laws and three courses of business management would be taught during each semester. “The teaching methodology will be oriented towards practical training with emphasis on offering solution to legal complications related to the business operations.
