PU polls live! PUSU wins campus; college results out too

Counting of votes to elect the president of the Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC) has begun.

After the counting of all 9,000-odd votes for the president’ s post, Panjab University Students Union (PUSU) won the top spot in the PU campus students council. Nishant Kaushal became the new president. PUSU and its partners were at one time trailing Students For Society (SFS) by over 180 votes, but SFS finished third eventually.

Students Organisation of India (SOI) was second (Piyush Anand), while National Students Union of India (NSUI) fourth. Counting had begun at 2.30pm and concluded at 9 pm.

The counting was held at the university’s gymnasium hall and is expected to conclude around 9 pm.

The fate of 25 candidates contesting for the posts of president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary for PUCSC was decided. names of other winners were to be out soon, at the time of update of this report at 9.05pm

The contest was considered among three main alliances led by National Students Union of India (NSUI), Students Organisation of India (SOI) and Panjab University Students Union (PUSU). Students For Society (SFS) was fighting for the president’s post only.
