With the tentative merit list for admissions to BCom stream in colleges affiliated with Panjab University (PU) being displayed on Thursday, the highest cut off under general category is 113.8% higher than last year's 113.4%. The list has been put up on www.bcomadmissions.puchd.ac.in.
Also, for a total of about 1,500 seats in the general category, names of 3,072 eligible candidates have been displayed.
PU officials said the objections to this tentative cut-off list could be filed till June 28 and the final list would be displayed on June 30.
Meanwhile, the first counselling for the colleges situated in Chandigarh, including the department of evening studies at PU, will be held from July 3 to 6 at the university's law auditorium.
Merit has been determined on the basis of score for which the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the qualifying examination is the basic or starting score. Chandigarh colleges have 85% quota under UT pool and other students, who have not cleared Class 12 from Chandigarh, are eligible for 15% general pool quota. There is no quota at the department of evening studies.
Meanwhile, there are 1,120 seats in co-education colleges, 770 seats in girl colleges and 140 seats in boy colleges, taking the total number of seats to 2,030.
