Aimed at to give a platform to the students to raise issues concerning the university, Panjab University Campus Students Council (PUCSC) plans to launch ‘grievance redressal forum’ on the varsity’s official website where student will be able to submit complaints, opinions and suggestions.
The initiative is the brainchild of students’ council president Jasmeen Kang.
He said since the official website of the Panjab University did not provide any information about the students council and members’ contact numbers, they wanted a separate online link to know the concerns of the students.
Kang said, “Some students with genuine problems do not come to us as they assume that we cannot help them. An online platform will be much more convenient for the students to share their grievances, which we can take up with the authorities accordingly. As of now, there is no dedicated person to keep in touch with the students on the social media.”
He said currently the official PU website has no information regarding the students’ council.
He said a link would be created on the varsity website carrying details of students council, its members and their contact numbers for the convenience of students.
The members of the students council said the common issues of the student community were ‘ill-maintained’ hostel rooms, shortage of hostel rooms, not getting room in desired hostel, demand for independent rooms for the research scholars, etc.
“Even months after hostel admissions got over, a large number of girl students are still hopeful of getting the hostel accommodation,” said Kang.
