In an age of instant information and online applications for almost all courses, Panjab University website (puchd.ac.in) does not have updated information on professors, department heads and wardens. In addition to missing information on who is posted where, the website still stills officials who retired six months ago as serving.
In a shocker, the link that is supposed to lead to a grievance cell is dysfunctional. A click leads to a contact number of the nodal officer who monitors and responds to students’ grievances. Students complain that no one takes calls on the number given.
The list of wardens has also not been updated. Contact numbers of the officials in revaluation branch, conduct branch, dean development college council superintendent are wrong. The website is maintained by the Computer Centre.
Director RK Singla said, “New admissions are on. Departments will send us an updated list of professors and contact numbers.”
He added, “A lot of transfers happen and wardens keep shuffling. It’s the responsibility of the dean student welfare office and departments to send us updated information.”
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) spokesperson Harmanjot Singh Gill said, “I think apart from results, our website does not have adequate information. Professors’ contact number are not updated.”
