The Opposition Congress on Thursday staged a walkout during the Zero Hour of the ongoing Punjab Vidhan Sabha, accusing the Akali-BJP government of shielding the main accused in the Abohar killing case.
A local Akali leader and liquor contractor, Shiv Lal Doda, is among the main accused in gruesome case. Charges in the case include that of chopping the limbs and killing the victim, who also happened to be a Dalit.
In the house, Sunil Jakhar of Congress said that there was pressure on the police to not file the challan in the case that is scheduled to come up for the hearing in an Abohar court on March 12.
Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal assured the assembly that the case would proceed in the correct manner as 26 arrests have already been made so far, including that of the main accused.
