The 13th session of the 14th Punjab Vidhan Sabha will be held from September 8 to 14.
The decision was taken at a cabinet in a meeting chaired by chief minister Parkash Singh Badal here on Monday.
A spokesperson of the chief minister’s office said the Vidhan Sabha session will commence on September 8 at 2 pm with the obituary references. The session will be adjourned sine die on September 14.
Earlier, the session was to begin on September 5, which, now, has been postponed by three days.
Regularisation of services of 198 service-providing trainers, employed under the centre of excellence scheme of the technical education and industrial training department, as craft instructors. This decision is expected to create about 4,000 additional seats in the industrial training institutes.
Creation of three posts of stenographer (senior scale) in lieu of three posts of senior assistant surrendered by the cooperation department, by amending the Punjab cooperative service rules. This will provide promotion avenues to steno-typists and stenographers (junior scale).
Relaxation of three years in the upper age limit for sportspersons, who have got medals in international events, and are willing to join Punjab Police. Currently, the upper age limit to join as deputy superintendent of police is 28 years and 25 years for sub-inspector and constable.
Fourteen posts to be filled in Punjab home guards and civil defence department in line with the policy of 13% reservation to the ex-servicemen in government jobs. Of the 14 posts, 11 will be those of clerk, two of corpora instructors and one of Class 4.
Approval to disburse development grants to every panchayat as received from the 14th Finance Commission for undertaking their infrastructure works in accordance with recommendations of 4th Punjab Finance Commission.
Status of sub-tehsil to Jandiala Guru. Currently residents face a lot of inconvenience as they have to travel to Amritsar for works related to revenue department.
Cong wants 25-day session
Punjab Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Charanjit Singh Channi on Monday said the weeklong Vidhan Sabha session should be of longer duration, at least 20 days more.
This is the last session before polls and there are important issues to be discussed in the House, including working of the SAD-BJP government. These important facts have to be brought to the public domain, he said. “The session should be of 25 days so that proper time is given to important discussions and the current issues of the state,” Channi demanded.
