The stage is all set for Narendra Modi's first rally in Punjab after being named as the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP's) prime ministerial candidate.
The much-awaited 'Fateh Rally' will be organised in Jagraon, a town nearly 45 km from Ludhiana, on Friday. Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini and a brigade of top cops, including police commissioners and senior superintendents, have already reviewed security arrangements for the rally.
Even Punjab revenue minister Bikram Majithia stayed at the rally's venue for hours on Saturday and instructed leaders and workers to minutely look into every arrangement. Kamal Sharma , the state BJP president, is also in the city for the past two days , convening endless meetings and paying repeated visits to the rally venue.
Deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, who was also in Ludhiana to inaugurate 'saanjh kendras', said they would go ahead with the rally even if it rained. "The rally will not be cancelled under any circumstances," he said. Jagraon MLA Shiv Ram Kler was on the spot till the filing of the report. He said everything had been taken care of.
