The Punjab government has issued notification regarding extension of service to government employees.
According to an official spokesperson, employees opting for extension would only be eligible to get pay equivalent to the last salary drawn. These employees won’t be eligible for promotions and annual increments.
As per the Punjab civil services rules & amended provisions, the government employee who retire at the age of 58 or 60, would be eligible for extension in service up to two years after retirement and such employees won’t be eligible to avail benefits such as annual increment and revised pay scale, said the spokesperson.
These rules would also be applicable to employees who are currently on extension. The spokesperson said those employees who belong to the Group A, B & C services are eligible for extension for two years on attaining superannuation at the age of 58 while the employees belonging to Group D can avail the extension on attaining the age of 60.
The employees can apply for extension before three months of their retirement.
