In its drive against anti-social elements, the district police Thursday night arrested four people and seized 2.5 kg opium from them. Hoshiarpur SSP Balkar Singh Sidhu told mediapersons Friday that a police party, led by SHO Bhulowal police station Gurvinder Singh was patrolling in the area of villages Megowal Ganjian and Mandiala.

On watching the police party, two persons with black colour bags in their hands ran towards the fields near Megowal Ganjian.

After a brief chase, police intercepted them and on search of their bags 2.5 kg opium was recovered. Both were identified as Gurkeshvar Yadav, son of Doman Yadav of Titlalangi PS Pipra, district Plamu (Jharkhand) and Singh Raju, son of Anaiet Ganju of Tibitad PS Kunda, District Chatra (Jharkhand).
