Deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal on Thursday reiterated the government's stand by refusing to hand over the investigation of the Gurdaspur terror attack to the National Investigation Agency claiming that the state police is competent enough to handle the probe.

"Punjab Police braved the terror attack and they are competent enough to carry out the probe also. When the attack was on, even then we never sought support of anyone," said Sukhbir, who was at Mansa to inaugurate a solar power plant (31.5 MW) of Essel group at Lakhmirwala village.

When asked whether the state police has been criticised for inept handling of the GPS devices recovered from the terror site, he criticised the media for presenting distorted facts.
