The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has fielded Kuldeep Kaur Tohra, 63, daughter of Akali stalwart Gurcharan Singh Tohra, from Sanaur in Patiala district for the Punjab assembly polls due early next year, in a fifth list of 12 candidates released here on Thursday. It has now named candidates for 91 of the 117 seats.

Kuldeep Kaur, member of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) from Sanaur, her husband Harmail Singh, and son Harinder Pal Singh joined the AAP in August. Harmail had accused deputy chief minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal of denying him poll ticket as he did not have “enough money”.

From Jandiala, the party has fielded 48-year-old Harbhajan Singh, a 2012-batch Punjab Civil Services (PCS) officer who resigned as excise and taxation officer (ETO), posted at Amritsar, on Thursday.

From Khemkaran, the AAP candidate is Shaurya Chakra winner Capt Bikramajit Singh Pahuwindia (retd), 47, who is also a former convener of the party’s ex servicemen wing. A charitable trust led by him runs colleges in the area.

Dr Sanjeev Sharma (63), a former president of the Jalandhar chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA), has been fielded from Jalandhar-Central. An ear-nose-throat (ENT) specialist, he runs an NGO called ‘Vision Punjab’.

Gurbinder Singh Kang, 62, a former commercial pilot who is president of the AAP’s farmer and labour wing in Punjab, has been named from Baghapurana.

At least three former Congressmen are also on the list — trucker and former zila parishad chairman Narinder Singh Sandha, 56, from Ferozepur-City, and Bhupinder Singh Bittu , 50, former sarpanch, from Khadoor Sahib. Bittu is at present chairman of the local market committee. From Balluana, Giriraj Rajora, 59, who lost the last election there as Congress candidate, has got the AAP ticket.

From Pathankot, the party has named councillor Raj Kumar Mahajan, 48; Balwinder Singh Sahota, 39, is the candidate from Amritsar-West. Malkiat Singh Thind, 48, a chemist, will be the candidate from Guru Har Sahai.

From Qadian, the party has picked former Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Kanwalpreet Singh Kaki, 38, a former chairman of Kahnuwan block samiti.
