Punjab to spend Rs2,500 cr on development of villages

With an aim to develop the infrastructure of villages in Punjab, the government will spend Rs2,500 crore till March 2016.

This was shared by Anandpur Sahib member parliament (MP) Prem Singh Chandumajra, while laying foundation stone of development works worth Rs1 crore in Chilla village in SAS Nagar on Tuesday.

“Villages will be developed as model villages and The government is committed to develop villages with special focus on providing clean drinking water, sewerage system and toilets,” said Chandumajra.

In Chilla village, the connecting road of the village to SAS Nagar will be developed with a cost of Rs20 lakh.

The road that is presently 12 feet will be 20-feet wide. Apart from this, `10 lakh will be spend on dharamsala, along with developing a place for elderly, with a cost of Rs2 lakh. Rs1 lakh will be spent on the gym in the village for youngsters. A cremation ground will also be constructed in the village, he added.
