Punjabi Film Festival draws big stars

Big names in Punjabi music and cinema converged here for the 5th Punjabi Film Festival organized by Sur Saanjh at Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, in Amritsar.

Big names in Punjabi music and cinema converged here on Saturday night for the 5th Punjabi Film Festival organized by Sur Saanjh at Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Majitha Road. MLA Inderbir Bolaria was the chief guest.

Harbhajan Mann was given a special honour of "The Living Legend of Punjabi Cinema". A documentary on his life was also screened on the occaasion.

Singer-couple Sardool Sikandar and Amar Noorie were also honoured. Lakhwinder Wadali was conferred the Sufi Sitara award.

Tulip Joshi and Gippy Grewal got the Balraj Sahni Honour for acting, Jaidev Kumar was got the Janswant Bhanwra Honour for Music Director, Jaswinder Bhalla was given the Gopal Sehgal Award for Comedy and Sardar Sohi got the Gurkirtan Honor for negative role.

Firoz Khan was awarded the Mohammad Rafi Honour for Singer, Sunita Dhir and Beenu Dhillon were conferred the Yash Sharma Honour for Character Artistes, while the Best Debutant Actor Honour went to Yuvraj Hans.

Harbhajan Mann, Sardool Sikandar, Amar Noorie, Firoz, Yuvraj Hans, Vinaypal Buttar, Sanjiv Attri, Kuljit and Meenu Singh also performed at the event.

On the occasion, singer Meenu Singh's album "Ishq Mohabbat Pyaar" was also released by Jaidev Kumar, Harbhajan Mann, Gippy Grewal, Amardeep Gill and Navtej Sandhu.
