Punjabi university fencers shine on third consecutive day

Punjabi university (PU) shone on the third day of 7th all India inter-university fencing men and women championship on Sunday.

In the sabre men team event, Punjabi University trio of Sukhandeep, Amit, Vishal Thapa and Nitish Nav clinched the gold medal while Anna University, Chennai won the silver. Kurukshetra University and Jain University Bangalore ended with bronze medals.

In the individual sabre event, Vishal Thapa of the host university won gold medal, while MS Vijay of Chennai got silver ahead Javed of Jammu University and Amit of Punjabi University who settled with bronze medals.

In Foil event, Kavish Bawa and Gursharan Singh of Punjabi university both reached the finals to ensure that both gold and silver medals came in the University's kitty.

In women epee event, PU's Baby Verma clinched gold medal, while Stepitha Chalil of Chennai remained on second spot. Jyotika of Punjabi University and Sakshi of Panjab University, Chandigarh won bronze medals.

In foil event, Jasmeen of Punjabi University topped her event, while another player from Patiala remained on second spot.
