District manager of the Punsup Jashpal Sharma was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from an inspector of the agency at his office at the Abohar road by a team of the vigilance bureau (VB) from Mohali head office this noon. According to sources, the raid was conducted following a complaint of Punsup inspector Harpreet Sharma stating that the district manager had demanded Rs 50,000 as commission from him on the purchase of some gunny bags.

The manager was allegedly arrested when he was accepting the money from the complainant by the VB team, led by inspector Sanjiv Kumar.

A case has been registered against him under sections 7 and 13(2) of the anti-corruption act at Mohali vigilance police station.
