Another batch of 322 private security guards passed out from the Punjab Security Training Institute (PSTI) set up at Police Recruits Training Centre (PRTC), Jahan Khelan, after completing two-month training in physical fitness, unarmed combat, physical security, fire fighting, crowd control, handling of weapons, first-aid and other security-related subjects.

Deputy commissioner Varun Roojam took salute from the pass-outs.The deputy commissioner said the security guards would be issued arms licence on priority and they would be helped in procuring bank loans for weapons. He exhorted the youth to join the courses for assured employment.

PSTI director RK Bakshi said the centre had churned out more than 5,000 trained security personnel, including about 300 female security guards, in the past five years and all have found placements.

The institute was a Vocational Training Provider (VTP) recognised by the Centre under its Skill Development Initiative Scheme (SDIS), he said.Bakshi claimed that the demand for security guards trained at Jahan Khelan was on the rise in private sector due to their high standard of training.
