In a series of protest against Aamir Khan starrer “PK” in Haryana, a joint forum of the Bajrang Dal, Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) district units joined in on Thursday, saying the movie insulted the Hindu sentiments.
Scores of activists holding saffron flags were at different locations, including Sheela cinema house here, to halt the screening but the sight of police deterred them. “The film is an attack on the Hindu religion, which cannot be tolerated. We demand immediate ban on the screening of this movie directed by Rajkumar Hirani,” VHP spokesperson Vinod Shrivastav told the media.
Meanwhile, members of Haryana Insaaf Society (HIS) arranged the screening of “PK” on their premises to support it. HIS president DR Chaudhry, a former Delhi University professor, said that it was a bold movie that exposed fraud in the name of religion and was worth watching, since the censor board had cleared it. “Right-wing organisations have no reason to vandalise the cinema houses,” he said.
