To win over the lack of adequate passengers for Bathinda Delhi Shatabdi Express, Railways has finally extended the route of express from Delhi to Ferozepur Cantonment station from Friday.
Union minister and Bathida MP flagged off the train from Bathinda station.
The railway even changed the days and timings of the train to attract the passengers so has to increase the seat occupancy rate. Earlier the train used to run on Saturday and Monday from Bathinda to Delhi, but as per new roster, the train will now run on Friday and Monday from Ferozepur station and Delhi.
Moreover now the train will depart at 4am from Ferozepur station and will arrive at New Delhi at 11.30 am. It will start back its journey from New Delhi station on 4.20 pm and will reach Ferozepur station on 10.45 pm on Friday and Monday every week.
The Shatabdi has been facing a huge loss as it was not getting adequate passengers from the earlier route. Anticipating removal of Shatabdi from the route, union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal approached senior officials in railway ministry, urged them to take steps so that the seat occupancy increases.
