Railways warn passengers not to carry inflammable objects

The railways department has advised passengers not to carry inflammable objects on trains. A railway official said in order to make train journey safer, the ministry has urged passengers not to carry and also not let their co-passengers carry inflammable objects while travelling on the trains.

A railway official said in order to make train journey safer, the ministry has urged passengers not to carry and also not let their co-passengers carry inflammable objects while travelling on the trains.

He said, "The passengers should not travel in trains with inflammable substances, including explosives and other objects such as crackers, gas cylinder, acid, petrol, kerosene, dry grass or leaves, thermic welding and stove."

He added that action would be taken against whosoever was found carrying such inflammable objects on train.

"It is a punishable offence under Section 164 of the Railway Act, 1989, where the offender may get an imprisonment of up to three years or a fine of Rs 1,000 or both and under Section 165, where a fine of Rs 500 is applicable," he said.

He added that the passengers could call on security helpline numbers on finding anything fishy. The numbers are 011-23303982-83, 011-23303748.
