Rainy week ahead for Chandigarh after series of hot days, says Met

If Saturday felt uncomfortably hot, blame it on the rising temperature graph over three days with a high humidity of 77%. From 34.1°C on Thursday, it touched 37.6°C on Saturday — 2°C above Friday’s 35.6°C.
For Sunday, the Met has predicted partly cloudy sky with likely thundery development or light rain.
The new week is expected to be full of rain with the weatherman predicting cloudy sky and rain from Monday
onwards. Monsoon is also likely to hit city on or by June 28 (Wednesday).
Chandigarh India Meteorological Department (IMD) director Surender Paul said, “On average, Chandigarh receives 840mm rain during monsoons (June- September). This year, city is likely to receive normal rainfall.”
Last year, the city had received 37% deficit rain.
“The city will receive rain from June 26 onwards. On June 26-27, there is a possibility of light rain, however, the intensity will increase from June 28 onwards,” Paul said, adding that the maximum temperature will come down with humidity likely to rise.
