Driving home the point of unanimous elections, Punjab rural development and panchayat minister Surjit Singh Rakhra's native village has unanimously elected sarpanch and other members of the panchayat.

Rakhra has called upon the people of the rural areas to ensure maximum number of unanimous elections to the panchayat bodies, as unanimous election can ensure all-round development of villages without any hitch. Stating that unanimity is in favour of all, he said more than 25% panches and 10% sarpanches have been elected unopposed in the state.

Nachatar Kaur was elected sarpanch of Rakhra village, whereas Charanjit Kaur, Jaswinder Singh, Raj Kumar, Dwarka, Harinder Kaur, Bheem Singh and Tarlochan Singh are other members.
