Self-styled godman and head of Satlok Ashram Rampal has accused the officers of Hisar central jail-2 of harassing him for money. Rampal, who was brought to Rohtak for hearing in a case of illegal land grabbing registered against him in 2006, alleged that the jail officers often demanded money from him. "If I decline to give them money, they start harassing me," he said while talking to mediapersons here.

Replying to a question, Rampal, who has been lodged in Hisar central jail-2 since December last year, said, "They even cut electricity supply to my cell if I do not fulfil their demand for money".

Notably, Rampal has also approached the Punjab and Haryana high court, seeking his transfer from the Hisar jail. On his appeal, the high court has issued notice to the Haryana director general of police (jails).

Despite repeated attempts by HT, Hisar central jail-2 superintendent Shamsher Dahiya did not respond to telephone calls and text messages sent on his mobile phone.

Meanwhile, sources in Hisar jail said that Rampal wants transfer from Hisar central jail-2 as about 140 of his close aides and followers were lodged in Hisar central jail-1.

He had also accused Dahiya and other officers of the jail of demanding money if he "wants to remain alive in the jail".
