Amid heavy police deployment, self-styled godman Rampal was produced in a local court here on Thursday in connection with a murder case.
The police produced Rampal in the court of additional sessions judge Ashwani Kumar Goel for hearing in the murder case registered against him in 2006.
Talking to Hindustan Times, Rampal’s counsel Raghubir Singh Hooda said that the court had fixed August 20 for the next hearing as other co-accused Krishan Kumar of Karsola village of Jind district did not appear in the court.
The murder case was registered against Rampal and his followers in 2006 after a clash at his ashram at Karontha in Rohtak district. One person was killed and some others were injured in the clash. In this case, Rampal had been behind the bars for two years and was released on bail in 2008.
