Amidst heavy police deployment, controversial sect leader Rampal Dass was produced in the court of additional sessions judge Ashwani Kumar Goel in a murder case registered against him in 2006 on Thursday.
During the hearing, co-accused Krishan Kumar, a resident of Karsola village in Jind district, did not appear and the court issued a notice to the Rohtak superintendent of police to produce him in the court on the next hearing on July 27. Rampal's advocate Raghubir Singh Hooda filed an appeal for allowing video-conferencing on the next date of hearing.
The 2006 murder case was registered against Rampal and his followers in 2006 after a clash at his ashram at Karontha in Rohtak.
A person was killed and several others injured during the clash. Rampal spent two years in jail under the case and was released on bail in 2008.
Rampal was arrested again after a clash between the police and his supporters in November last year and he was booked in 35 new cases, including murder, rioting and illegal confinement.
