The brutal murder of the 7-year-old girl after being raped has put the local police in a tizzy. Even after three days, the police have been groping in the dark. They have linked the rape and murder with two similar cases, in which minor girls were murdered after being raped and the cases are still unsolved.

The police suspect a psycho serial killer behind all three incidents that took place in the past year and a half.

The police have found some similarities in the killings. In all three cases, the victims were abducted from outside their houses and their bodies were dumped away from the localities. All three bodies were decomposed when they were recovered.

In the recent case, the police invited the wrath of locals as they rounded up around 10 teenage boys of the locality for investigation.

The people staged a protest against the move. Manohar Lal, one of the locals, alleged that instead of finding the killer the police had been grilling the innocent teenagers in the area. Following this, the police let off the boys.

The footage from a CCTV installed outside a commercial establishment in the area shows that another girl of similar age had met the victim on June 6. The victim hugged her and had a few words with her before moving away.

Amrik Singh Pawar, additional deputy commissioner of police, city 1, said the police had been investigating the matter and had formed various teams. He said the police also questioned the victim’s neighbours.

The decomposed body of a six-year-old girl was recovered from a vacant plot at Ekta Colony of Gehlewal village at Basti Jodhewal on January 21, 2013. She was missing since January 12. The case has been unsolved.

The decomposed body of a nine-year-old girl was found from a dried-up water tank on a plot at Shakti Nagar of Basti Jodhewal on May 11, 2013. She was missing since April 22.

A case of abduction and murder was registered against unidentified killers, but the police so far have failed to have any clues.
