After around five-month-long probe, the division number 2 police booked a man and his two accomplices, including a woman, for raping a 28-year-old woman and clicking her lewd pictures over property dispute on Monday.
The accused are at large and the police have launched a manhunt for their arrest. The accused have been identified as Gurmeet Singh of Amritsar, his accomplice Gurmeet Singh and his wife Ranjit Singh. The complainant also belongs to Amritsar. She had filed a complaint against the accused in Amritsar too.
In her complaint, the woman had alleged that she came in contact with the accused in Amritsar. The accused had exploited her mentally and physically, she added. She said the accused had also tried to grab her house. Following which, she has filed a complaint with the Amritsar police, which did not take action on her complaint, she added.
After her complaint, the accused harassed her even more, following which she shifted to Ludhiana and started working at an eatery near civil hospital.
She alleged that on October 12, 2014, the accused came to Ludhiana and told her to come to back side of the civil hospital to settle the matter amicably. When she went there, the accused raped her in the car and also clicked her lewd pictures. The accused then threatened her to vacate the house or else he would post the pictures on social networking sites.
SHO at the Salem Tabri police station Inspector Maninder Bedi said, "An inquiry of the case was marked to him. After the probe, he has filed his report, following which the division number 2 police station registered the case."
