‘Sarbat Khalsa’ organisers said they want a drugs, corruption and Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) free Punjab and would leave ‘no stone unturned’ in getting political support from various parties.
“We may soon come up with a new front in Punjab and contest elections in form of a Maha Gathbandhan,” said Bathinda. He claimed that they have support from JDU leader KC Tyagi, Swaraj Abhiyan party leaders Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav and Suspended Aam Aadmi Party MP Dharamvira Gandhi. “They will all participate in our convention,” said, Mohkam Singh of United Akali Dal (UAD).
Representatives of UAD, Akali Dal 1920 and Akali Dal (Independent) met here for a meeting. Mohkam said they were organising a convention in Amritsar on September 9 in collaboration with other groups including Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar).
Another UAD leader Gurdeep Singh Bathinda said they were in touch with many regional parties, leaders, activists and non-government organisations (NGOs). “We will give equal representation to minority classes, religions and parties in our front,” said Mohkam.
