The refreshment room in the city railway station, set up just two months ago, is contributing to increasing the filth in the area. The refreshment room has reportedly been running in losses from the day of its establishment and the waste from the room is released in the front area of the railway station.

SS Walia, station superintendent said, "The refreshment room should have made arrangements for throwing waste. Because of improper disposal, solid and liquid waste blocks the drain, resulting in spillage."
On the other hand, the manager of the refreshment room is blaming the railway station for not any making proper arrangements regarding the sewage. Jaginder Singh, refreshment room manager said, "Railway administration has not made any arrangements regarding the sewage system. The drain is blocked since many days and we have complained many times but no steps have been taken so far."

"It is the responsibility of the railway administration to provide these facilities. This is not our responsibility," he said.

Sources in the city railway station said the drain that runs along the platform leaks from various parts.
The initiative taken by the super superintendent to make the area around the railway station clean has also turned out to be futile. The railway administration had planned to make the area around the station a clean zone but it is one of the filthiest places in the city.

Harun Khan, health inspector in the city railway station, was unavailable for comments.
