Relatives of dowry death accused seek fair probe

The relatives of those booked in connection with the alleged suicide by Deepali Singla, 22, on July 21 at her house in North Estate here, accompanied by BJP councillor and senior deputy mayor Tarsem Chand Goyal, submitted a memorandum to SSP Inder Mohan Singh Bhatti demanding a fair probe into the case.

The relatives of those booked in connection with the alleged suicide by Deepali Singla, 22, on July 21 at her house in North Estate here, accompanied by BJP councillor and senior deputy mayor Tarsem Chand Goyal, submitted a memorandum to SSP Inder Mohan Singh Bhatti demanding a fair probe into the case.

The relatives of the accused alleged that the woman had committed suicide after she became aware of the fact that her husband had come to know about her love affair with another man. The body of the woman was found hanging herself from a shower in the washroom of her house.

Four members of her in-laws' family, including husband Sahil Goyal, have been arrested under section 304-B (dowry death) on the complaint by the victim's brother. The victim's parents, residents of from Sirsa in Haryana, had alleged that she was murdered because in-laws were demanding more dowry.
