Remote village in Fazilka to get national award from PM Modi

The panchayat of a remote village in Fazilka, a border district of the state, fetched laurels to entire state by bagging ‘Panchayat Empowerment Award’ to be presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 24 at Lucknow at a national-level programme, being held to mark the ‘National Panchayat Day’.

The panchayat of a remote village in Fazilka, a border district of the state, fetched laurels to entire state by bagging ‘Panchayat Empowerment Award’ to be presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 24 at Lucknow at a national-level programme, being held to mark the ‘National Panchayat Day’.

Chak Janiser village, situated on under the Jalalabad subdivision of Fazilka district had a population of 2,600 and has a Veerpal Kaur as its sarpanch.

Veerpal got constructed a panchayat ghar, a civil hospital, a gym, a sports stadium, a veterinary hospital, a power house, an air-conditioned community centre, a water pond besides concrete roads and streets.

“Chak Janiser, situated about 20km from Jalalabad, have solar lights and all arrangements for cleaniness to ensure garbage free atmosphere,” added Veerpal Kaur.

Deputy commissioner Isha Kalia congratulated the entire village, especially its sarpanch Veerpal Kaur.
