An installation ceremony of science society was held on the premises of Government College for Girls here on Tuesday.

Ear, nose, throat (ENT) surgeon Dr Arun Mittra was the chief guest while principal Gurminder Kaur also graced the occasion and delivered the welcome speech.

Dr Mittra talked about how we could build a secured future through peace and health. He also stressed that like all industries, the thermal generation of electricity produces waste. Whatever fuel is used these wastes must be managed in ways that safeguard human health.

He also discussed about the world's worst nuclear disaster that occurred few years back.

Renewable energy sources such as hydro and wind are expected to be capable of supplying energy to the world for another one billion years at that point the predicted increase in heat from the sun is expected to make the earth's surface too hot for water to exist.

Kaur said the society was working hard to improve the standards of science wing. Atomic energy is very dangerous, she said, we should totally ban this energy throughout the world for our betterment.
