The Mansa Railway Under Bridge (RUB), lying defunct and with cracks for months now, is being repaired by the administration.

On September 8, HT had highlighted the issue in its special series, My City Our Issues.

Inaugurated in August 2010 by deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, the Mansa RUB, constructed at a cost of Rs 6.36 crore, was so poorly constructed that it witnessed cracks within three months. The bridge has been repaired number of times, to no avail.

A frustrated citizenry had been demanding its demolition and the coming up of a pedestrian path instead for months now, as it is a vital link between the two parts of the city.

The RUB is a main link joining the city bus stand, court complex, the district complex on the one side to the civil hospital, railway station, Government Girl and Boys School.

The Ram Bagh Road and the Veer Nagar Mohalla road on other side are in a pitiable condition.
Mansa executive engineer (building and roads), Chiman Lal Garg said, "The RUB will be completely repaired within a week and the traffic has not been halted. The road one side is being repaired and the problem of water-logging will be taken care of. Big motors will also drain out the water quickly."
