As many as 38 residents of various areas of district alleged that they have been duped by a Delhi-based infrastructure company Curo India Private Limited of 4 crore.

In a press conference on Saturday, they said they had purchased shops in an upcoming mall at Lohar Nangal village, near urban estate-2 Jalandhar in March 2011 when the construction work of the mall was still going.

Rahul Kumar, a NRI from UK said it was totally unprofessional conduct of company as despite repeated emails and telephones to company's managing director, no response was given to him.

Kumar added that he had invested around Rs 18 lakh in the mall for purchasing shops, thinking that Punjab was a good destination for investment but to no avail.

Other buyers alleged that the company lured them by advertising in various papers about shops and assured that shops would be handed over to them after construction of the mall ends.

They also alleged that the company also claimed that land on which, mall was under construction, was free from any dispute. They said even after two years, nothing had happened and none of the buyers had got any shop till date.

The buyers alleged that whenever, any buyer contact the company in regard of possession of shops, company officials threatened them for dire consequences.

They also alleged that it was found from their own investigation that the company had a dispute of the land of the mall and it was already facing so many complaints of cheating people in several districts of state.

They also said if company did not allot their shops as per their agreement soon, they would file a complaint with police against the company.
