Residents of Rishi Nagar are infuriated over the lackadaisical attitude of authorities towards improving the condition of post office in their area that have been lying in a dilapidated condition since long.

Residents have complained that even the name of post office that is located in Rishi Nagar has not been changed, since 10 years when it was shifted from Bindraban Road to Rishi Nagar. The name of post office is still SS Road Post Office Ludhiana, which creates confusion, claimed residents.

Satish Thaman, who is member of grievances redressal committee, said higher authorities of the postal department had not shown any interest in improving the condition of the post office.

He said if post office's name can't be changed, a board displaying 'Rishi Nagar Post Office' should be installed near the area for the convenience of residents.

Thaman said, “Weed has grown excessively near the post office that also creates problems for the visitors. There is an urgent need to remove the congress grass from the area.”

Sunil Vashisht, general secretary of the Rishi Nagar Citizens Council, said, “Infrastructure of the post office needs to be improved. There is a need to beautify the staff counters to give a neat and clean look to these counters. There is also a need to provide better sitting arrangement.”

He further said there was also a need to recruit more staff at the post office.
