After a cold and foggy day followed by rain at night on Friday, Amritsar residents on Saturday woke up to a partly overcast sky with the rays of the sun playing peek-a-boo, giving them the much-sought after respite.

After remaining indoors due to bad weather a day before, people in large numbers were seen basking in the mild sunshine on Saturday.

The maximum temperature recorded on Saturday was 13.6 degree Celsius, while minimum temperature was around 8.4 degrees. The city received 2.4 mm of rainfall on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.

Even as the sun appeared till 2:30 pm, the weather got cloudy after that, resulting in cold conditions all over again.

"The temperature apparently went down after12 noon. One should be careful as weather is quite unpredictable," said Shivani Gupta, a college student.

The MET office has predicted a partly cloudy sky on January 19, 21 and 22 in the city. A mainly clear sky has been predicted for January 20.

Till Saturday evening, the temperature was 16.4 degree Celsius (maximum) and 8.4 degrees (minimum) in the last 24 hours.
