Members of several prominent organisations of this district on Wednesday paid homage to the victim of Moga bus incident Arshdeep Kaur at Gurdwara Bibi Kahan Kaur at a function held here.

Addressing the gathering, senior leader of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Ranwinder Singh Pappu Ramuwala said that there is no doubt that such incidents are not tolerable in society; however, the opposition parties did not play a responsible role in this regard.

"Patients were harassed for five days in the Moga civil hospital due to protests by opposition parties. The services in the emergency ward and outdoor patient department were also affected. The administration requested protesters to change the venue of their protest but they did not relent. Therefore, hundreds of patients, who visited the hospital during these days, had to return without meeting doctors.

Prominent among those who addressed the gathering included Gursewak Singh Saniasi, president of the Samaj Sewa Society, Baba Mandgal Singh, president of the Aadi Dharam Samaj, Punjab; Balvir Singh, president of the Goldsmith Union, Moga, municipal councillor Parminder Singh Safri; and Sant Kuldeep Singh Sekha.
