The residents of Aman Nagar and Aakash Nagar near Jalandhar bypass staged a protest against the installation of a mobile tower in Akash Nagar on Wednesday. The residents said they can suffer from various health problems due to the mobile tower.

They alleged that the mobile tower was installed against their consent. “It has been installed on the rooftop of a house during night hours,” they said.

An area resident, Surinder Kumar, said there were two schools in the area. “We want MC to get the tower removed from here,” they said.

The residents said they have informed the area councillor, Randhir Singh Sibia about their concern. According to them, the house owner rejected their request.

The residents said in case the tower is not removed, they will intensify their protest. They also appealed to the deputy commissioner (DC) to instruct the MC officials to remove this tower.
