Restaurant worker in Ludhiana beaten up for seeking money for order placed

A worker at a restaurant on Dugri Road was beaten up by a group of men when he demanded money for the order latter had placed on Tuesday evening.

The incident took place when the victim, Narinder Vij, a resident of Urban Estate, Dugri, asked for money from the accused Varinder Singh, Pawan Kumar, Satnam Singh, Raja, Rinku and five unidentified people at 11pm.

According the complaint by the victim, the accused had placed an order for chicken but refused to pay when he demanded money from them. The accused started arguing with the victim and later beat him up mercilessly and fled from the spot. The victim was left injured and taken to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where he was being treated for injuries.

Sub-inspector Narinder Singh of Model Town police station said that an investigation was on and action would be taken against the accused. A case under Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused at Model Town police station.
