After the launch of the online registration facility for new patients in March this year, the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) is going to extend the facility to old (revisit) patients as well within a week.

With it, patients who are undergoing treatment at one department of the PGIMER can register themselves online, in case they want to visit any other department or revisit the same. The facility will save a lot of time and energy of patients who otherwise have to stand in long queues for hours for getting a new card.

Around 9,000 patients register themselves at the PGIMER per day, of whom around 2,500 are new patients.

Since March 2015, the PGIMER has been providing the online registration facility only to new patients at 14 OPDs.

“We are going to start the preregistration facility for the revisit patients soon. The software is ready and has been tested,” said Dr YL Narayana, vice-chairman, computerisation monitoring committee.

He added: “In case a patient is undergoing treatment at one department and wants to visit another department, he/she could register online.” For registration, a patient has to log on to the PGIMER website (www.pgimer.edu.in) and click the online registration link where two options will appear — new user or revisit patient. Once a patient clicks on the revisit link. The another option will be same unit or another department. A pre-registration number will be issued once the department and the day is selected and a patient fills his/her personal details.
