A 20-year-old man was hacked to death on a bus in Jalandhar on Saturday evening.

The victim has been identified as Sunny of Kala Bakra village, around 20km from here. He worked as a hairdresser.

Sunny was on his way back home after appearing in a Hoshiarpur court in relation to a kidnapping case registered against him in 2015, when three bike-borne men forcibly stopped the bus near Nahla village on the Bhogpur-Adampur road. Two of them barged into the bus and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons, leading to his death.

Sunny’s friend Balihar, who was accompanying him, managed to escape and informed the police. Cops rushed to the spot and registered a case of murder against the unidentified assailants.

Police, meanwhile, rounded up the Hoshiarpur man who was allegedly kidnapped and roughed up by Sunny and his accomplices over an affair with a girl. Further probe is on.
