After having replaced the traditional hand delivery system with electronic mail during his previous postings, Rohtak superintendent of police Shashank Anand has executed the idea of reporting cases of heinous crimes to the area magistrate and senior police officers through Internet.

Talking to mediapersons at his office, SP Shashank Anand said the traditional hand delivery system in which a police official has to report to the deputy superintendent of police and superintendent of police concerned required a lot of time and effort.

He said now the police station in-charge can report the matter through email, which would also improve the efficiency of police personnel in keeping themselves engrossed in solving the cases.

The SP said the new initiative would also speed up trial in various cases as all the related documents and statements of witnesses in a scanned format would be available on email, making it easier for police and judiciary to assess facts related to a case.

He added that soon all the police station in-charges would be imparted with training on use of smartphones to supply first-hand information through mobile application - WhatsApp.

Anand had launched a similar practice of email reporting during his previous postings as district police chief in Karnal and Yamunanagar.
