Two people, including a woman, have been arrested for the rape of a 10-year-old girl in Baiyanpur village of Sonepat district, police said.
They added that victim is the woman who in fact helped the man, Sandeep, a resident of Asan village, to rape her daughter. The two have been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) 2012.
Inspector Promilla, in-charge of women’s police station, said the victim told the police that her father and mother have been staying separately for past sometime. She said she lived with her mother and that Sandeep, a relative, was a frequent visitor to their house.
The girl, inspector Promilla said, told the police that Sandeep forced himself upon her at her house on April 20, but added that her mother did not give in when told about it. The girl said her mother even threatened her not to disclose it to anyone else, and added that Sandeep raped her repeatedly ever since.
She said the girl, however, gathered courage and narrated her ordeal to her relatives who filed a police complaint.
