A video showing factionalism among the leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is circulating on WhatsApp.

The video, with famous song ‘Gidran Da Sunya Group Firda, Khende Sher Marna’ by singer Ranjit Bawa in the background, depicts SAD leader and Markfed chairman Jarnail Singh Wahid as ‘sher’ (lion) and Charanjeet Singh Brar, officer on special duty (OSD) to deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, and his supporters as a group of ‘giddar’ (jackals).

Party sources said that all is not well between both leaders and this video has once again highlighted the infighting between the party leaders.

Markfed chairman Wahid told HT that it was an act of opponents and they wanted to create factionalism, which would not be tolerated. I have told senior superintendent of police (SSP) to enquire the source of the video, Wahid claimed.

HT repeatedly tried to contact Brar but he was unavailable.

Differences have also appeared in the Banga unit of the SAD as former Banga MLA and SAD leader Mohan Lal got angry as he was reportedly sidelined from Sukhbir functions in the areas falling in the Banga constituency.

His pictures were missing from the banners installed in the area.

On Wednesday morning, education minister Daljeet Singh Cheema held a meeting with Mohan Lal at his house and brought him to the function.
